Garden Fresh Vegetables - Guaranteed Garden Fresh Flavor

Your Guide to Produce

When Freshness Counts

Knowing how to select and care for your produce makes a big difference in flavor and shelf-life. We get the produce to you in three days or less from the moment it’s picked. From there, here’s what you can do to ensure the produce remains beautiful and mouth-watering until you serve it at your table.

Tomatoes

Selecting Tomatoes

Select tomatoes that have a deep, rich color. That color isn’t just appetizing, it also means that the tomato is fully ripe and has a rich supply of nutrients. The skin should be smooth, firm, and free of blemishes. The tomato should feel a little heavy for its size and the flesh should yield just slightly to gentle pressure.

Caring for Tomatoes

Store your tomatoes at room temperature on the counter, a shelf or in a basket, away from direct sunlight. Your Garden Fresh tomatoes were picked when ripening and will ripen a bit more on the inside when stored at room temperature—no need to speed ripening in a paper bag.

Don’t store your tomatoes in the refrigerator. Tomatoes do best at room temperature. Tomatoes stored at below 55 degrees will be damaged and tend to loose their flavor.

Cucumbers

Selecting your Cucumbers

Select cucumbers that are firm, well-shaped, and a vibrant green color. The skin should be firm and free of soft or yellow spots.

Caring for your Cucumbers

Store cucumbers in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator. Don’t leave them out for too long because heat causes them to wilt.
